WHEN THE LAND RUNS AWAY

Frederico Lobo

Born in 1981 in Porto. In 2006 he attended the Ateliers Varan documentary course at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, where he made the short film Entre-Tempos (Young Filmmaker Award at the Vila do Conde Short Film Festival). Since then he has been working in cinema, having made the feature film Bab Sebta in 2008 (awarded at Fid Marseille, Doc Lisboa and other festivals), co-directed with Pedro Pinho, and the short film Zone d’attente # 0. In 2014 completed Industrial Revolution (premiered at the Visions du Reel festival), a new feature film, co-directed with Tiago Hespanha. In 2017, he took a master’s degree in Cinematography at ESCAC in Barcelona. As a director of photography  he has worked with Von Calhau, João Vladimiro, João Calixto, Angélica Salvi, André Gil Mata, Callisto McNullty, David Ferreira, Raúl Maia, among other directors and artists. He is currently developing his next film, When the land runs away. In 2020, together with André Gil Mata, João Vladimiro and Luís Palito, he founded the film cooperative Rua Escura CRL.
